CANCER GROUP ASK ELECTION CANDIDATES WHERE HEALTH SERVICES ARE ON THEIR AGENDA

first_imgDonegal Action for Cancer Care are asking all people registered to vote in Donegal to ask their choice of candidate and indeed all those seeking election where heath matters are on their agenda? The group says is not enough for the candidates to tell us how important it is too them.“We at DACC want to know what will they do to protect health services for the people of Donegal? You need to know if the health care you or your family need will be there if & when you need it. “Budgets cuts & recruitment embargo have already had a major impact on our own general hospital in Letterkenny as well as Donegal’s community hospitals. Waiting lists get longer with people waiting years to get seen for health services.“Acute hospital budgets nationally were cut by €56.5million in 2013 and now in 2014 the hospital budgets are cut for this year by €250 million. The service plan for Primary Care Services says “primary care schemes through the Primary Care Reimbursement Service include a cost reduction challenge of €231 million in 2014.And remember things like medical cards are under a comprehensive review of client eligibility and prescription charges with the “delisting” of some drugs from payment by your medical card. There are so many other key & important health & health care issues that are all facing more major cuts like homecare & community support services that we in DACC have serious concerns about. The primary aim of DACC is ensure the people of Donegal have access to world- class cancer services whilst ensuring the retention and development of all cancer services at Letterkenny General Hospital. Cancer patients need access to other health services so no health service is safe anymore.DACC have had fears over the last 3 plus years that the major cuts in place with more on the way that the health needs of Donegal people are in serious danger and under major threat. With Mr Tony O’ Brien the Director General of the HSE warning the Government at the beginning of this year “that a failure to provide funding for its proposed developments for this year could be contrary to the best interests of patients”, DACC are certain that we have yet to have the full impact of these major cuts to our health care service and the impact on the sick people of Donegal.CANCER GROUP ASK ELECTION CANDIDATES WHERE HEALTH SERVICES ARE ON THEIR AGENDA was last modified: May 16th, 2014 by StephenShare this:Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)Click to share on Reddit (Opens in new window)Click to share on Pocket (Opens in new window)Click to share on Telegram (Opens in new window)Click to share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window)Click to share on Skype (Opens in new window)Click to print (Opens in new window) Tags:donegalDONEGAL ACTION FOR CANCER CAREElectionslast_img read more

Consequences of Bad Choices: Well, Duh

first_imgResponsibility – integrity – honesty – respect – healthy choices.  Those are the values of a bygone generation.  Do we need science to tell us that our grandparents were right?    PhysOrg reported that “Teen sexual activity and gambling [is] associated with taking nonprescribed medications to get high.”  And Live Science reported, “Coed Dorms Fuel Sex and Drinking.”  Some 90% of college dorms are now coed.  A new study of 500 students from five college campuses, published in the Journal of American College Health, found that students in coed dorms were 2.5 times more likely to engage in binge drinking weekly.  “Perhaps unsurprisingly, the study found students in coed dorms were significantly more likely to have had multiple sexual partners in the past year,” Science Daily added.  “Pornography use was also higher among students in coed dorms.”    The profligate students were not necessarily correlated with frats or sororities.  Students in gender-specific dorms were usually placed there by the administration, not by their own choice.  That sounds so 1950.When you find something incredibly obviously stupid going on in public life, that makes no sense at all, and produces terrible consequences, you can usually find a Darwin-based liberal policy behind it.  What’s Darwin got to do with the above stories, you ask?  Well, since the 1960s, Judeo-Christian values have been marginalized in society under the guise of separation of church and state.  Universities have stepped on themselves to remove anything resembling the Ten Commandments.  Simultaneously, the Church of Darwin has been preaching in their sanctuaries (the school classrooms) that we are all evolved animals and that selfishness and promiscuity are just natural.    If they find the consequences distasteful, well, duh, what did they expect?  Did they expect the children of tolerance and liberation and selfishness to become altruistic scientists?  Teach young people that they are mere animals and they will act like them.  When the subjects outnumber the researchers, Darwinistic science will lead to its own demise – in the Animal Farm.(Visited 6 times, 1 visits today)FacebookTwitterPinterestSave分享0last_img read more

Instagram update changes the way profiles look in a big way See

first_img Instagrams New Update That Sparked Outrage Was Just A Test Close Instagram is working on many features and changes that are going to change a lot of things for its users and influencers. While the news of Instagram hiding like counts on the platform has brought mixed feelings, it’s not the only big change that is going to embrace the social media app. If you haven’t updated your Instagram app, a new version has arrived with a few changes that you might or might not like.Instagram for Android received a new update and with it came a major redesign. The change is mainly for the profile page of Instagram accounts, where things have been shuffled a bit. Users are familiar with the years-long design where the profile photo appears on the top left with the user’s name and bio beneath. The counter for Posts, Followers, Following alongside “Edit Profile” option is alongside the profile photo. The profile design has been unchanged for a long time, making it quite familiar and easy to use. But Instagram decided to bring a new change to the way profiles look and users might need some time to adjust to it. Instagram new update changes profilesIBTimes India/Sami KhanThe new design for Instagram profiles now show the handle right on top and the name user has chosen to be displayed just below it in larger font size. This way, the name of the account holder is highlighted. The account bio, if the user has added, appears below the name in a smaller font, followed by the number of followers and the accounts that the user follows. The number of Posts is no longer shown on the profile. The profile photo appears on the top right corner, just below the settings menu and story archives. There’s a bigger Edit Profile button, which also separates the profile information from the content posted on the account. Users’ Stories will appear below the edit button followed by photos and videos users have posted on the account.Check out the difference below: Instagram new update changes profilesIBTimes India/Sami KhanInstagram is clearly putting the focus on the content here and the information, which would otherwise miss the visitor’s attention. The change is as big as the upcoming features like new Stories camera UI with Create Mode, Shopping from Creators option, Donation Stickers and hiding the precious likes, which is the bread and butter for a lot of influencers out there.Hiding the likes on photos doesn’t take away much from genuine influencers as they can still share statistics about the post’s reach. This will help businesses connect with the right influencers.center_img IBTimes VideoRelated VideosMore videos Play VideoPauseMute0:02/1:10Loaded: 0%0:02Progress: 0%Stream TypeLIVE-1:08?Playback Rate1xChaptersChaptersDescriptionsdescriptions off, selectedSubtitlessubtitles settings, opens subtitles settings dialogsubtitles off, selectedAudio Trackdefault, selectedFullscreenThis is a modal window.Beginning of dialog window.
