Then it was emergency mask donning practice with @Astro_DavidS – if there’s an (unlikely) ammonia leak, we have just seconds to protect ourselves. pic.twitter.com/Mmtc6ii3B8— Anne McClain (@AstroAnnimal) March 5, 2019 Yes buddy, that’s your Mother Earth. Isn’t she beautiful? pic.twitter.com/qY6KDbAIwb— Anne McClain (@AstroAnnimal) March 4, 2019 Sci-Tech There’s a long history of astronauts and cosmonauts taking small toys along on launches. When the toy floats, it indicates the spacecraft has reached microgravity. That was little Earth’s job initially, but now it’s getting the full ISS experience thanks to McClain. McClain posed with the Earth toy after entering the Crew Dragon capsule on Sunday after the capsule successfully docked with the station. She then took it aboard the ISS to look at its home planet. “Yes, buddy, that’s your Mother Earth. Isn’t she beautiful?” McClain tweeted. Crew Dragon makes history Musk is following Earth’s escapades in space and retweeted one of McClain’s images. “Buddy is like an Earth Pokémon,” the SpaceX founder wrote.Crew Dragon is spending a total of five days docked at the ISS before returning to Earth for a planned landing in the Atlantic Ocean. The Demo-1 mission marks a milestone for NASA’s Commercial Crew Program. If the capsule passes this trial, then NASA and SpaceX hope to launch astronauts on Crew Dragon as soon as midyear. The endearing toy comes from Celestial Buddies, which makes plush planets. The company was taken by surprise when the toy went to space, saying, “a sudden flurry of orders for Earth in the 48 hours prior to liftoff had made us wonder if something was afoot.” The little Earths are now on back order. Celestial Buddies expects a new batch to arrive at the end of April. It then got to try on an emergency mask along with Canadian Space Agency astronaut David Saint-Jacques. The mask practice is in case of an ammonia leak, which would give the crew mere seconds to don the masks to protect themselves.
41 weird objects seen on Mars, explained Curiosity looked up in late May to capture these noctilucent clouds floating by. NASA/JPL-Caltech It’s just another twilight on Mars. You’re a rover, kicking back after a long day of science, gazing up at the clouds. Sometimes it’s the simple moments that are the most stunning.NASA’s Curiosity rover has been in skygazing mode lately, sending back ethereal visions of noctilucent (night shining) clouds. Curiosity team member Claire Newman highlighted the rover’s late-May sky view in a mission update on Wednesday. Mars rovers NASA Space The night-shining clouds are beautiful, but they can also tell scientists a lot about what’s happening up above the rover, including how much water vapor there is in atmosphere. Curiosity isn’t the only NASA machine that enjoys a bit of cloud-watching. The InSight lander shared some soothing cloud images earlier in the year. Curiosity is currently checking out a clay-rich area in the Gale Crater and recently sent back a fresh selfie. So what’s next? More science and more beautiful days on Mars. Sci-Tech 0 Post a comment Share your voice The noctilucent clouds are “so high that they’re still illuminated by the sun, even when it’s night at the surface and any lower cloud layers are already in shadow,” Newman wrote. Mirza Fakhrul Islam AlamgirBangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Saturday alleged that the government is using the Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) completely for achieving its political purpose.“The daily Amar Desh newspaper has been shut down and its editor was taken to jail and tortured there. Not only so, cases are also being filed against BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia and her son Tarique Rahman’s mother-in-law.“Cases are being filed against all whereas some 7,500 cases filed against the AL men were withdrawn after the party came to power,” said the BNP leader.Mahmudur Rahman, the acting editor of now closed daily Amar Desh, alleged that the Bangladesh Awami League government wants to destroy Zia’s family and his family.“But, as long as I remain alive, I will continue my struggle in favour of the country’s independence and to establish Islamic values in the society. I will not be stopped by false cases or attacks on me,” said Mahmudur Rahman. He alleged that corruption has been all-pervasive in the country now. “The cost of Padma bridge has been increased further. Money is being taken out of people’s pockets. All know where this money goes.”
